The Bill Pearl Community Journalism Scholarship

For over 20 years, Bill Pearl has been the publisher and founder of Long Beach Report (www.lbreport.com) which has provided insightful reporting on community issues.

LBReport.com readers are proud to announce they have established a scholarship at CSULB Department of Journalism in Bill Pearl's name as one way of acknowledging his on-going commitment to excellent community journalism.

To kick-off this effort, CARP -- Citizens About Responsible Planning -- have committed to match the first $5,000 in donations given to CSULB in order to make a total of $10,000 in available funds.

The Bill Pearl Community Journalism Scholarship will be awarded annually to CSULB Journalism students who are committed to the principles of democracy, citizen journalism and open government.
